About

Welcome to the Eclectic Gaymer! This is a Web site offering news, reviews, pictures, videos, and other random things my friends and I subject ourselves to in pop culture and entertainment.

Eclectic: Deriving ideas, style, or taste from a broad and diverse range of sources

As you can see, the title says “gaymer.” This is also written by gay video gamers. There’ll probably be a section in each post about how it appeals to us as a gay culture. Enjoy! =)

**If you want us to cover anything specifically, explain anything, write a review on a game/show you don’t have time to play/watch, or eat some exotic food, we’ll be glad to! Just e-mail at: theeclecticgaymer@gmail.com **

Levelonefanboy:

Level One: Every time you start a new game, you usually start at level one. Unless you’re playing Pokémon where the starter is Level 5 or getting a new character in a JRPG, who have stats which are based on the stats of your party at the time. Anyway,

Fanboy: 1. “A passionate fan of various elements of geek culture (e.g. sci-fi, comics, Star Wars, video games, anime, hobbits, Magic: the Gathering, etc.), but who lets his passion override social graces.” (Urbandictionary.com)
2. “A male who is highly devoted to and biased towards a single subject or hobby within a given field…The term originated in comic book circles, to describe someone who was socially insecure and used comics as a shield from interaction, hence the disparaging connotations. Fanboys are often experts on minor details regarding their hobbies, such as continuity in fictional universes, and they take these details extremely seriously” (Wikipedia.org)

Basically, I’m a beginner when it comes to geek culture. I don’t have the money to invest in it, and I don’t have the time to memorize details to know that a mistake occurred on issue 100 because of a small art detail on issue 62. But that’s not to say I love the atmosphere that geek culture creates. What’s great about being level one is that you have the chance to reach level 99. Or level 255. Or 1337 status!

I want to use this Web site to comment and give news on stuff I find interesting. If you can forgive the author’s newb status or if you’re someone like me, then come along for the ride! I will do my best to entertain and educate. Enjoy!

EXPjunkie:

EXP: Abbr. Experience or Experience Point(s). A unit of measurement used to quantify a player character’s progression through the game. Experience is generally awarded upon completion of quests, overcoming obstacles and opponents, and for successful role-playing. (Wikipedia.org)

Junkie: A hyperbolic expression for a person with a particularly strong enthusiasm for some activity (Wikipedia.org). Or a druggie. Either/or <_<

Essentially, I’m a fanatic grinder! I don’t mind logging in the man hours it takes to get my characters up to a level higher than required for any area, making any challenge unbearably easy. I’d like to say I’m a seasoned gamer and pretty well versed when it comes to technology and media but I’ve still got lots to learn so it’s time to grind away!

I’m going to try my best to be as detailed and unbiased as I can for every review I write. Ultimately, everything comes down to a matter of opinion though, so no flames, yeah? Haha! I’ll try to keep up as much as I can but RL gets a bit hectic for me so don’t be surprised if I go M.I.A. for a few days at a time. I’ll be sure to make up for it with quality, not quantity! I hope you find all the reviews here insightful and entertaining. Press Start Button
