Professor Layton and the Curious Village

A.K.A. how to prove you aren’t as smart as you think you are o_o

Intro: Professor Layton and his apprentice Luke are summoned to a far off little village by the widow of a rich man. The deceased rich man has left his entire fortune to one person. The problem is, that one person is anyone who can find a “Golden Apple” he hid somewhere in the village. More curious is the fact that the entire village is obsessed with…puzzles. As Layton and Luke search deeper and deeper into this case, more mysteries about the village and it’s inhabitants appear. Can you help Professor Layton and Luke solve this puzzle?

Naturally, this was your first puzzle

Gameplay: Touch, tap, drag and draw with the stylus to move around the village, look for hidden items and solve puzzles. It’s pretty easy to learn but some of the puzzles will have you scratching your head before you facepalm because you realize the solution really IS that simple >< Trust me, the game has a few easy puzzles here and there but there are also some that will make you want to throw your DS in front of a train going North at 115 mph that left the station 20 mins before another train going South at 125 mph which means they’ll meet in…OH FORGET IT!!!!! Luckily, there are things called “Hint Coins” that you can find all around the village that unlock up to 3 hints per puzzle to help you if you’re really stumped. There are a total of 135 puzzles to solve in the game along with mini puzzles/activities to do along the way like finding scraps of a torn painting and reassembling them, collecting “strange gizmos” and more. Each puzzle ranges in difficulty according to the number of “Picarats” you can earn from solving it. “Picarats” are like your score throughout the game. Once you complete the game, depending on the number of Picarats you have, you can unlock bonus content.

Yeah! Remember THIS kind of puzzle?

A-HA! You're not smarter than me!!!

Rating: This rating is out of 5 stars (5 being super duper spiffy). If I decided to give it a rating that is equal to the number of screens in a NDS plus the number of letters in the last word of the game title minus the number of screenshots in this review, how many stars has this game acquired (yes, I really did just do that)?
