Twitter is definitely abuzz about the Nintendo 3DS Press event held today in Amsterdam. After all the “ooh’s” and “aah’s” from E3, they have finally announced some games and a launch date for this powerful handheld.

NintendoAmerica tweeted that these games were available to view during the event:

  • Pilotwings Resort
  • Nintedogs + cats
  • Steel Diver
  • The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D
  • Kid Icarus: Uprising
  • Dead or Alive Dimensions
  • Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 3D
  • Madden NFL Football
  • Super Street Fighter IV 3D
  • Asphalt 3D
  • Combat of Giants: Dinosaurs 3D
  • Resident Evil: Mercernaries 3D
  • Ridge Racer 3D
  • LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars

Cool stuff that 3DS can do?

  • Activity log which tracks game activity
  • Pedometer
  • Mii Maker – take a picture of yourself, and it’ll create a Mii for you
  • Face Raiders
  • Augmented-Reality (AR) cards

Changes from DSi:

  • enhanced Internet browser
  • 3D Video player
  • Only need 1 friend code now!
  • StreetPass – connects units in sleep mode
  • SpotPass – can access Internet while game is in play

They lastly announced that the 3DS will be available March 27, 2011 for $249.99.  So much better than the anticipated $300 price! It’s already up for pre-order on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&ref_=amb_link_355138282_2&rh=n:468642,k:B002I096AA|B002I090AG%20&linkCode=shr&camp=213733&creative=393193&tag=xbox360poker-20

And if that’s not enough to get you excited, here’s a video with all its features:

I wish I could attest to the 3D functionality without the glasses, but I could only rely on the word of people who experienced it. And the word has been amazing! I guess it’s one of those things I’ll have to wait and see for myself.

Square Enix’s Fantastic Project Announcements 2011

I’m sure you heard by now that Square Enix has announced a couple of awesome games for 2011. If you haven’t, let me be the first to tell you!

Final Fantasy Agito XIII has changed its name to Final Fantasy Type Zero for PSP.

For the 3DS, Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance.

And whaaat? A sequel for FFXIII? Final Fantasy XIII-2 announced!

I wish I had trailers to show you, but Square Enix enforced their copyright issues, so now nobody can show the trailers. Even the gameplay trailer for Final Fantasy Versus XIII is down. =( Instead here is one image dominating the blogging atmosphere:

Ahhh, did she kill a cuckoo?? Check it out though, looks like Lightning gets a new manly wardrobe! ^_^ All we know so far is that Lightning will be back with a couple of new characters and that they took into account the criticisms on the first one. I may be one of the few people who enjoyed FFXIII, (It sold 6 million copies!) so this will definitely be on my wish list.

Hopefully you can see this trailer for Kingdom Hearts 3DS:

It’s actually going to tie into the upcoming Kingdom Hearts 3 and new Disney worlds to explore like the Hunchback of Notre Dame!

A Fantastic day indeed!!
