One-Line Summary: When hot mental patients are trapped in an insane asylum, seductive dancing is the only means of escape.
I did NOT know what I was getting into when I watched this movie. I thought, Ok Vanessa Anne Hudgens and Jamie Chung are in this movie, the rest I couldn’t care less about. Wait…in every scene they’re dressed in outrageous prostitute outfits and kinky leathery fighter costumes?
Ummm, ok. I guess I’ll see what it’s all about. XP
My suggestion: Don’t look for story when watching this. You will get confused. It’s not like Inception where you can kind of figure out how everything goes down. Then you want to watch it again. I will give you Sucker Punch’s story: The girls are in a mental institution and try to escape. Then enjoy it for what it is. The reality of Sucker Punch is pretty much left up to imagination, and the dreamy burlesque sequence is pretty much the same thing. What’s left to enjoy? The freakin amazing CGI fight scenes. (O_O)
Sucker Punch, Y U NO 3-D??? For those I give Zack Snyder major props. I didn’t care what was going on in this story. Some scenes were uncomfortable. Throughout the movie I was thinking: DANCE ALREADY, BABY DOLL!! You’ll see what I mean. Hahaha.
Queer Factor: Ladies, this movie is for you. The amount of estrogen is through the roof! There is one somewhat hot guy in the movie, but you only see him in a suit…and an orderly outfit. If you’re into that sort of thing.
Overall: This movie is called Sucker Punch for a reason. It’s the feeling I got after watching the movie. If you can put up with a ridiculous amount of crying, girls in striptease in awesomely illustrated fight scenes, and a story that leaves you hanging, then watch this. I wouldn’t pay for it again, but I wouldn’t mind watching it on DVD.
